March of the Magsaysays
I took the kids to see March of the Penguins this morning (free kids movies Tues/Wed morning @ Deerfield Regal). Normally wouldn't have considered taking Olive to the movies this young. But my babes are equally enthralled with Animal Planet/Discovery as they are with Thomas and Barney(Olive LOVES Barney) so I figured she would be okay. First, never and I mean NEVER go into the movies without loading up on the snacks. I now understand why childhood obesity is so prevalent. Anyone who knows my kids, knows that they can eat. But this was ridiculous! Apple slices, peanut butter toast, raisins, and skittles (usually reserved for meeting-don't judge, it works) GONE...before the movie previews started!!! So, just as the movie is starting Olive starts squirming. I panic...at any second that high pitched shriek that she has perfected will emerge and we are sitting smack dab in the middle of a crowded row. Thankfully, we make it to the stairs before she starts. I buy a small ($6!!!!) popcorn and return to the theater. This time I have sense enough to sit us in the floor rows, closest to the door. And here is the lovely part- they shared a seat, shared the popcorn, shared their cups and actually watched the movie. Success!!! That is until the popcorn was gone and they start fighting over the bag...Jack's cup...the seat. So we saw one hour and eleven minutes of March before we headed for the nearest exit. :-) I have to say this is one of the things I love about being a mom- nothing is ever as simple as it used to be. Everyday, I find myself watching or becoming a part of mini theatrics!!!
