Jack and Olive had their first confrontation today, all over a Tuberz Surfin' Strawberry Yogurt! I'm cleaning the kitchen, kiddos are watching Shaun the Sheep DVD and enjoying a snack. All of a sudden Jack screams. Olive having finished her yogurt- snatched his. He is screaming "Olive give it back!" Meanwhile Olive is hiding in the curtains CRUSHING his yogurt. They start playing tug of war with this tube of liquid. By the time I got to the scene my babies, my curtain, and my carpet were COVERED in yogurt. I opened my mouth and heard my mother's voice saying, "Hey, uh-uh, cut it out you two. That's enough." Instantly thought: 'it's happened... I've turned into my mom.' Next thought: remembering my mom, cool as a cucumber when she discovered my bloody-nosed brother ferociously trying to get to my body, which I had cleverly squeezed between two arcade games at IGA. Still cool, when she went and asked the cashier for paper towels to wipe the blood from both of our crying faces (his blood transferred from his hands to my face). More cool, as she walked us out of the grocery, past leering bystanders, and back to our car-empty handed. Ever cool, as she learned that all of this derived from an argument over who would get to push the cart into the store. Back to reality- it's yogurt....you've got this. Yeah, I am turning into my mom. This is one cliche I accept with pride.

Telling Tales
Jack and Olive's kooky parents make it a practice of telling bedtime/resting time/maniac long car drive time stories that include trucks, dinosaurs, trains, elephants (there is always an elephant) and of course, Jack and Olive. Telling these have become such a habit that Jack regularly interjects adding his spin or making corrections as he sees fit. Recently dragons have been added to the array of characters...
In today's tale Jack and his companion Herva have the awesome task of warning all the other dragons and "neighbor friends" of imminent danger: An ERUPTING VOLCANO!!!!
Of course they succeeded in their mission. And how did they celebrate?..... "They all shouted 'Hooray! Hooray!' and then went to Target!"
